5 Espresso Cocktail Recipes

1. Espresso Martini

This one is a classic – it screams elegance – if there’s such a thing! And the best thing is that it’s incredibly easy to whip up a batch so your guests are guarranteed to be impressed. Here’s the recipe from The Urban List:

30ml Kahlua
30ml vodka
30ml Sacred Grounds espresso

* Coffee beans to garnish

Pop all ingredients in your cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes and start dancing (shaking). Then, voila, you’re done. Serve with a few Sacred Grounds Coffee beans and you’re done.

2. Cafe Amore Cocktail Recipe

A twist on the French Connection cocktail (for all you avid ‘cocktailiers’ out there!), The Cafe Amore recipe uses hot espresso coffee, whipped cream and almonds! A perfect wintery, tummy warmer, that’s for sure. Here’s the recipe from The Spruce:

  • 1 ounce Cognac
  • 1 ounce Amaretto
  • 8 ounces coffee (black; more or less to fill glass)

Garnish:
whipped cream
shaved almonds

  1. Pour the Cognac and amaretto into an Irish coffee glass.
  2. Fill with hot coffee.
  3. Top with whipped cream.
  4. Garnish with shaved almonds.

3. Stumpdown Vanilla Flip

This cocktail sounds like a mix of a country jig and and death defying circus act! Either way, it sounds super-fun. Combining egg whites, coffee and some delish orange liqueur, this cocktail is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Recipe from Imbibe Magazine

2 oz. Navan vanilla liqueur
½ oz. espresso
¾ oz. orange liqueur
1 fresh egg white

Glass: cocktail
Garnish: orange twist

In a mixing glass and tin, add the spring from a Hawthorn strainer and the egg whites, and shake until a light meringue forms; set this aside. In another mixing glass, add the other ingredients with ice and shake. Add this mix to the egg whites, quickly shake, pour into a glass and garnish.

Demerara simple syrup

  • 1 tablespoon demerara sugar

Cocktail

  • 4 oz. strong cold-brew coffee
  • 4 oz. fernet (preferably Contratto)
  • 3 oz. amaro (preferably Barolo Chinato)
  • 3 oz. Compass Box Whisky Co. Orangerie or Grand Marnier
  • 4 orange twists (for serving)

Demerara simple syrup

  • Combine sugar and 1 Tbsp. hot water in a jar, cover, and shake until sugar is dissolved. Chill until cold.

Cocktail

  • For each cocktail, combine 1 oz. coffee, 1 oz. fernet, ¾ oz. amaro, ¾ oz. Scotch, and ¼ oz. demerara simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is frosty, about 30 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

5. Stout Beer & Coffee Cocktail

Beer, liqueur and coffee? Righteo, let’s see how this goes for a bit of fun. You could also use Sacred Grounds Drinking Chocolate instead of the cocoa powder and we recommend that you brew up an espresso shot using one of our delish coffee blends.

  • 3.5 ounces stout (Oatmeal Stout is great. A heavier imperial stout works well too.)
  • 2 ounces cooled Sacred Grounds espresso coffee
  • 1.5 ounces Averna amaro
  • Cocoa powder
  • Coarsely ground sea salt
  • Ice for shaking
  • 1 oversized ice cube for serving
  • 1 old fashioned glass
  • 1 straw (cut down to the size of your glass if necessary)
  1. In a shaker with ice, pour iced coffee and Averna and stir
  2. Place 1 large ice cube into old fashioned glass
  3. Pour mixture from shaker into glass slowly
  4. Pour stout slowly over mixture. Stir to combine gently so as to not disturb beer’s mild carbonation
  5. Sift cocoa powder over large ice cube (or several small cubes if you don’t have a large ice mold)
  6. Sprinkle sea salt over ice cube.
