There’s a new secret gourmet mecca that I’m not sure I want to let you in on – I may want to keep it to myself. Oh, ok… it’s in Westleigh – a beautifully leafy up-and-coming suburb of Sydney, and it’s called Ryan’s Gourmet Kitchen.

There’s so many things going for this place – the funky decor screams funky industrial with its fairy lights, beautiful reclaimed wood features and comfy retro metal chairs. Wine barrels act as tables at the far end of the cafe with quaint stools, topped off with cialisfrance24.com a walk-up wooden coffee bar for take away orders. Although it’s a narrow space, it doesn’t feel crowded – in fact it has a really friendly, cosy atmosphere, making you feel right at home.

Ryan’s Story

Owner and chef, Ryan has only just opened this cafe – his first solo venture after working for 21 years in impressive establishments such as Nova in London and the Shangri-la Hotel’s corporate venue in Hong Kong. Now, with a chef having such a vast experience will ultimately result in food that is out of this world amazing. And it is!

Ryan is passionate about ethically sourced and organic food – which is why this cafe is a perfect fit with Sacred Grounds. He rarely cooks seafood because he’s not comfortable with the prevalence of unsustainable fishing around the globe. When choosing any produce, Ryan always chooses the most sustainable, organic or locally sourced product available. And although it costs him a tad more, its not reflected in the reasonably priced dishes. He believes and acts on investing in ethical processes because they’re great for the environment and the taste? Amazing!

Menu

As a chef, Ryan’s passion is winter-y, warm, comfort food kind of dishes! One of his signature dishes is the Lamb Shank Papadelle which is cooked for 24 hours! Can you imagine the flavours?! He’s also know for his delish Vine Ripened Tomato and Crushed Avocado on Soy Linseed Sourdough with Persian Feta. This was one dish we were lucky enough to sample and it was so yummy! The egg was perfectly cooked, the flavours were so beautifully balanced and the sourdough was perfection. His Bacon and Egg Roll is also a must-have menu item using high quality double smoked Black Forest bacon. Drooling!

Sweet tooth? You’re catered for too with homemade muffins and locally sourced pastries – all of which go down so well with a Sacred Grounds Organic Fairtrade coffee. Ah yes, the coffee… Ryan is so passionate for all things ethical that he even uses single origin milk… we like this guy!

Ryan is one active chef! One of the unique aspects of his menu is that it changes every week. So come Tuesday, Ryan gets all creative and comes up with new dishes, new versions of old favourites and uses his knowledge and experience to create more incredible items, so there’s always something new to try. Brill!

Asked how he would describe his brand spanking new cafe, Ryan said “Fresh, fast and fun!” And we agree! This place is another must-visit cafe with quality food, beautiful decor and a friendly atmosphere. What more could you ask for?
