Inter Desserts: Cafe Profile

What goes better with an awesome coffee than a whole range of scrummy desserts? Nothing, I say! Inter Desserts in Artarmon is one of our amazing café partners and a must-visit location if you love quality, handmade pastries served with your favourite style of coffee.

We took a trip on the sweet side to take a taste of some delicious delicacies and chat to the owner, Ian about what makes Inter Desserts tick.

History

Ian has worked as a pastry chef for the past 25 years, perfecting his craft in hotels across Sydney and in his own pastry wholesale business. Around 10 years ago, he opened his first café, Inter Desserts, providing fresh pastries, sandwiches and coffee to local customers.

The Essence of Inter Desserts

The main aim of Inter Desserts is to create a friendly atmosphere, combined with freshly made goodies and great coffee and the proof is in the pudding – so to speak (pardon the pun). They have built a loyal customer base with ‘regulars’ popping in every day for their coffee and cake hit.

They are famous around town for their fabulous organic coffee. Three years ago, they switched to our Organic Spirit Blend and have been doing a roaring trade ever since. Sacred Grounds’ coffee is even used in some of the baked goods like the Latte Macarons, Coffee Walnut Cake and the Coffee Truffles. Drooling!

It’s not just about the quality of food and drink on the menu but quality people working behind the scenes and on the counter. Most of the staff have been with Inter Desserts for the past 10 years which means it’s a happy environment to work which then translates to being a happy place to visit.

But when you talk about Inter Desserts, you HAVE to talk about the food. Oh my!

Menu

The unique thing about Inter Desserts is that all their cakes, pastries etc are baked FRESH on site – there’s not a defrosted slice, cupcake or pie in sight. And you can tell! They have a staggering array of beautiful pastries to suit any taste from macarons to truffles, choc chip biscuits to delicious flans.

Lunch is also on the menu with hearty sausage rolls and pies, freshly made sandwiches, wraps and quiches. So, if you wanted to, you could spend the whole day from breakfast (bacon and egg rolls, toast & banana bread) to afternoon tea (where do I start? mini lemon meringue pies, lamingtons, cheesecakes and more!) sipping on coffee and eating up the menu!

Specialty

If you struggle to make a choice, Inter Desserts’ top sellers are the incredible mini Gluten-free Orange and Almond Cakes and the full sized Lemon Lime Flan. Ian said his favourite was anything with nuts like the Pecan tart. Mmmmmm.

The chefs at Inter Desserts can also make beautiful birthday cakes to order and even have an in-house printer so you can design your own image cake. All cakes come in 6, 8 and 10 inch sizes, so you are sure to find the perfect cake to make your event super-special!
