Jah Bar: Cafe Profile

Have you visited the Northern Beaches of Sydney lately? This area has some of the best cafes and restaurants in Australia – it’s Foodie heaven! And one of the best aspects of the Northern Beaches is that some of these amazing foodie destinations are right near the beach!

Our feature cafe of the month, Jah Bar is one of those amazing cafes that combines great, healthy, ethically sourced food and awesome coffee with a view of the beach. Tick, tick, tick, tick! Unlike others on the Dee Why beach strip, Jah Bar isn’t just your run-of-the-mill cafe. By day it serves up the tastiest, healthiest food paired with our Sacred Grounds coffee and by night it’s a cool tapas bar. This means you can spend all day and half the night working through their incredible menu.

Now if you’re after something a little bit different and a whole lot of delicious you can’t go past the Jah Bar breakfast burrito complete with chorizo (sourced from an authentic Spanish fellow who uses Australian pork in his creations), bacon and chipolte! Or why not try the Dukkah Grilled Halloumi Bowl with poached egg and Chimmi Churri. Don’t forget your Sacred Grounds coffee made to perfection, just the way you like it! Jah Bar has a wide variety of breakfast options from an impressive Fruit Salad to a mouthwatering Pulled Pork Hash, a delish Flourless Banana Bread to the fluffiest pancakes around!


If you haven’t yet stuffed yourself silly, hang around for lunch and dinner! The biggest problem of your day will be choosing what to order. Jah Bar has a list of tapas that will make you giggle with delight including Fish Tacos, spicy Padron Peppers, Zucchini Flowers, Patatas Bravas and so much more! Mains are equally delicious with options of Organic Lamb Ribs, Cider Glazed Chorizo and Moroccan Braised Lamb YUM! Or if you want to get your Paella on, there’s a Seafood Paella that will knock your socks off with intense flavours combined with the freshest of local ingredients.

Jah Bar philosophy

Sourcing local and organic (where possible) ingredients is a must at Jah Bar. Their meat is incredibly fresh, delivered every second day from a farm in Cowra. Seafood is Australian and sustainably sourced and their bread comes from a local baker. All their ingredients come from Australian producers except for their cheeses and chorizo that come from Spain.


Everything on the Jah Bar menu is organic including their Sacred Grounds organic coffee!! Not only that but food has to be sourced from ethical/sustainable producers. For example Jah Bar will never sell an Acai Bowl because the farming practices around growing this crop are destructive.


Jah Bar has a no-waste policy which means all their food is used – secondary meat is slow cooked, they purchase food daily (except for meat) – ensuring they don’t have a surplus of food at the end of the day. This means the food is fresh and once they run out of a certain ingredient then that dish is done for the day!

The no-waste philosophy also extends to some of the furniture with wood from some of the tables being sourced from the original Sydney Harbour Bridge scaffolding! That’s history right there and the ultimate in recycling!

Jah Bar combines tasty food with an ethical philosophy and a friendly vibe which means you’ll not only be eating some pretty fine food but you’ll be making a positive contribution to the world – right up the Sacred Grounds alley!
